Tips for Parents

  •
    • Let your child know that his or her education is a family priority.
    • Encourage your child to maintain daily routines such as finishing homework and getting a good night's sleep.
    • Check the alarm clock every night to ensure it is set to go off at the correct time and that it is turned on.
    • Make sure you are up early enough to get your child off to school on time.
    • Arrive 10 minutes before the first bell to ensure your child is seated when class starts. Being late can disrupt the entire class.
    • Do not enable your child by allowing unexcused absences. Keep in mind, complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
    • Try to schedule non-urgent related medical appointments and extended trips when school is not in session.
    • If your child refuses to go to school, do not hesitate to ask for help from the school.
    • Offer praise to your child for school tasks well done, including good attendance.
    • Get involved in your child's education.
