Shaw Butte is a learning-rich mosaic, a community of many cultures, where we appreciate differences and celebrate diversity, while focusing on achievement. Our staff believes that all children can dream, achieve and deserve equal access to a full education. Critical thinking skills are taught to enable children to resolve conflicts, make decisions, and identify problems. The love of learning is nurtured as a lifelong process. Shaw Butte's curriculum is fully aligned with State Standards and provides art, music and PE for all grade levels.

The WESD proudly celebrates its strong academic performance in 2024–2025, with 11 “A” schools, 18 “B” schools, significant grade improvements across 10 schools and a District-wide “B” letter grade, marking continued growth and excellence.
